VIDEO: Students and faculty speak out at policing and protesting forum

Students and faculty voiced their thoughts on the injustices of systemic racism, police brutality and related issues experienced throughout the U.S. in an open forum held Sept. 28.

The panel was facilitated by James Peterson, an associate professor of English and the director of Africana studies; Sirry Alang, an assistant professor of sociology, anthropology, and health, medicine and society; Holona Ochs, an associate professor in the political science department; and Saladin Ambar, an associate professor and the chair of the political science department.

The forum provided space for discussion on issues of race, policing and systemic oppression within the U.S. and within Lehigh University experienced by faculty, staff and students. The discussion was lead by the facilitators as well as the panel, including Peterson, Ambar, Karen Valerio, ’17, and Bruke Mammo, ’17.
