The Boston University Terriers defeated Lehigh men’s soccer 2-0 on Saturday, dropping the Mountain Hawks record to 2-2 in the Patriot League.
Both of the Terriers’ goals came during the first half. Boston’s first goal happened in the ninth minute of the game when Boston junior Mac McGuire passed the ball across the field to freshman David Amirani, who tapped it into the corner of the goal. The second goal came near the end of the first half, when senior Dominique Badji beat two Lehigh defenders to score a breakaway goal.
Lehigh had an opportunity to score in the first half on a penalty kick, but junior Jamie Luchini’s shot hit the top post and didn’t make it into the back of the net.
Although Lehigh put up a fight in the second half and had several shots on goal, none made it into the net.
“We had 25 shots and only five of them were on the net,”said sophomore Justin Worley, the Patriot League defensive player of the week.”We just couldn’t finish tonight.”
Freshman Doyle Tuvesson led Lehigh with six shots on goal and Jack Miskel wasn’t far behind with five shots on goal.
The team will look to capitalize on how it played in the second half and bring that into its next game against the University of Maryland.
“We had a lot more possessions this game, and we haven’t had that in the last few games,” said sophomore captain Danny Gonzalez. “We competed so that is always a good note and we are playing against a good Maryland team. So we have to bring those exact things into that game.”
Lehigh travels to Maryland to play the Terrapins on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
