The Colgate University Raiders proved too much for the Mountain Hawks as they fell 61-55 in the final game of the regular season.

Despite a strong effort, Lehigh shot 40 percent compared to Colgate’s 50 percent. Lehigh also only shot 29 percent from 3-point range compared to Colgate’s 55 percent.

The score remained tight the entire game, but Lehigh could not make up the 10-point deficit they fell into before halftime.

The Mountain Hawks kept Colgate on its toes at the beginning of the second half where they trailed by only 8-10 points. They then pulled within two, but Colgate answered by outscoring Lehigh by nine points over the next nine minutes.

Sophomore forward Tim Kempton led Lehigh’s offense early on, scoring 12 of his 18 points in the first half. However, ten 3-point shots highlighted the Raiders’ first-half crusade, leaving the Lehigh defense scrambling. Sophomore guard Austin Price followed Kempton in scoring, sinking 16 points, including four 3-pointers. Freshman guard Brandon Alston rounded out the top three for Lehigh scoring with 10 points.

Lehigh remains in a secure spot going into the Patriot League Tournament. The third-seeded Mountain Hawks will host a Patriot League Quarterfinal Game against American University on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Stabler Arena.
