One of Lehigh’s groups, Leela, an Indian dance team, is gearing up for their Dance Fest performance.
“I’m really looking forward to this year because the girls have been so great, everyone’s been very cooperative,” said senior captain Sonali Shah, ’15. “Not hating me when I yell at them, everyone’s been practicing a lot, they’ve done so well this semester.”
During one of Leela’s last practices before the big performance, team members practice steps on repeat in and out of costume.
“Dance Fest performances stick in my head because you’re in front of a huge crowd and I always get nervous,” said Divya Joshi, ’15.

LU’s Finest, Lehigh’s step team also loves Dance Fest, which is one of their biggest performances each year.
“What I like about step particularly is that is requires a lot of teamwork because there’s no music, and when it works it’s really cool,” captain Briana Fowler-Puja said.
Ornella Ngounou, ’16, said that she loves Dance Fest because she gets to see all the other dance team’s performances.

Lehigh’s Belly Dancing Club is making an appearance this year, as well, but the the next president and vice president will be performing for the first time at Dance Fest with the club.
“I think it’s really cool when you get someone that has stage fright or they say they’re never going to perform, and then you see them in our outfits performing in front of a bunch of people,” Katie Barr, ’18, said
President Anna Sternberg, ’15, is excited to see other Lehigh groups perform.
“You usually don’t see other dance clubs on campus, because a lot of what we do is practicing and performing, and not all performances are with other groups,” she said.
