This afternoon’s Founder’s Day parade has been canceled due to threats of inclement weather.

The parade was scheduled to take place today at 4 p.m., beginning at Broughal Middle School and culminating at Packer Memorial Church.

“We’ve been monitoring the weather forecasts all week,” wrote Silagh White, the director of Arts Engagement and Community Relations in an email to participants, “Today’s predictions are the rain will increase to heavy amounts and strong winds will gust between (4 p.m. and 8 p.m.) The safety of our students is our primary concern.”

The cancellation was also confirmed in a tweet from Zoellner Arts Center.

Other events, such as the annual Founder’s Day celebration featuring the installation of President Simon, as well as the Brown and White birthday celebration are still scheduled to occur as planned.
