The Lehigh volleyball team beat Colgate University 3-1 (25-18, 25-21, 15-25, 25-20) in an away match Friday night.

Lehigh (16-11, 7-4 Patriot) won the first two sets and lost the third, but the team clinched the match with a win in the fourth and final set. The win puts the team in third place in the league.

The Mountain Hawks were led by senior outside hitter Leah Turner with 17 kills and senior right side hitter Stephanie Slater, who slammed down another 14 kills. Another senior, setter Amy Matula, posted a team-best 40 assists. Freshman standout libero Emily Develle led the team with two aces and 18 digs. Senior middle blocker Ana Vrhel led the team-high six blocks.

The match featured a lot of momentum swings, exchanging leads throughout each of the four sets. Lehigh’s 9-1 run in the first set, 8-3 run in the second and a 6-1 run to close out the final set helped earn the team the crucial away win.

Lehigh returns to play Bucknell University at home Saturday in the Leeman-Turner Arena after a string of seven straight away matches.
