Account information for 5,000 Lehigh usernames and corresponding LinkedIn, Tumblr and MySpace passwords were discovered on the dark web, according to a June 23 email from Lehigh library and technology services.
The 5,000 Lehigh users were included in a post of more than 500 million users discovered online. The compromised accounts were not Lehigh account credentials, but instances where Lehigh emails were used to log into social media accounts, the email said. No Lehigh email account passwords have been leaked.
LTS encourages changing passwords for these three social media websites, especially if prompted. It also suggests monitoring accounts for suspicious activity and not using passwords for these accounts in the future.
