A female student was sexually assaulted by a male individual who is not a Lehigh student on Friday morning in a lower campus residence hall, Lehigh Chief of Police Edward Shupp wrote in an email to the campus community.

The victim knew her alleged attacker, according to the email. Shupp could not specify the residence hall where the alleged assault occured because the investigation is ongoing. The incident was reported at 4:15 a.m., and the Lehigh University Police Department is looking into it.
