Lehigh men’s basketball junior center Tim Kempton was named an AP honorable mention All-American for the second year in a row, according to the Associated Press.

This year, Kempton increased his averages in nearly every major statistical category, averaging 17.7 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. He also shot 55.5 percent from the field in his 29 games.

Kempton also received the honor after the 2014-15 season, averaging 15.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. It’s also his second straight season winning the Patriot League Player of the Year Award.

Kempton is only the third player in Lehigh history to receive the award and the second to earn it twice. The only other Lehigh player to receive the honor multiple times was C.J. McCollum, ’13, in 2010 and 2012, making Kempton the only Mountain Hawk to win it in back-to-back years.

Lehigh got the closest to a trip to March Madness this year in Kempton’s three years on the team, falling to No. 9 seed College of the Holy Cross 59-56 in the Patriot League Championship on March 9.

Kempton joins 39 other players on the honorable mention list, including Danuel House of Texas A&M University, Brandon Ingram of Duke University and Domantas Sabonis of Gonzaga University.
