Cheryl Matherly will assume the role of vice president and provost for International Affairs after more than a year-long search, according to an email from Patrick Farrell, Lehigh’s provost and vice president for Academic Affairs.

Matherly previously served as vice provost for global education at the University of Tulsa where she dealt with strategic leadership for various international education programs — study abroad, university partnerships, dual-degree programs, curriculum internationalization and faculty development included, Farrell wrote.

The search to fill the position, which began after Mohamed El-Aasser resigned in February 2015, garnered over 125 candidates.
