0

For the third time in his career, senior Lucas Warning set a new school record for shot put Friday. In the Lehigh track and field team’s senior opener, Warning tallied 17.93 meters to top his own previous record of 17.92. His previous mark of 17.92 was the longest throw in the Patriot League heading into the league championships last fall.

Warning returns this year as the defending champion after placing first in the Patriot League Championships in May with a throw of 17.37 meters. As the Patriot League champion, Warning received first team All-Patriot League laurels and was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team.

Last indoor season, Warning finished as a runner up at the Patriot League Championships after a successful season. He placed first in the shot put events at the Lehigh-Lafayette dual, Lehigh Covert Classic and the Villanova Invitational.

Warning and the Mountain Hawks will return to action Friday for the Fast Times Before Finals event hosted by Lehigh. This will be the team’s final event in 2016 as it will have a one-month layoff in between events.

This is the 11th edition of what is a weekly installment in The Brown and White sports section. The Must-See Mountain Hawk series gives recognition to one of Lehigh’s top performers.
