Amicus Properties sent an email to The Brown and White this afternoon announcing a new coffee shop, Zen Café at Amicus, which is expected to open in the former Saxby’s location on 3 W Morton Street towards the end of September. The cafe will be operated in partnership with the owners of Donerds Donuts.
In the email, Amicus said the organization wanted to take action after learning Saxbys would not be renewing its lease.
“We’re really excited about what Zen Café can become for the Lehigh and South Bethlehem communities,” Amicus said in the email. “Since this space has been familiar to students for years, we think the transition from Saxbys to Zen and the story behind why we decided to step in would be something students would be interested in hearing about.”
After the grand opening, the cafe said there will be special benefits for Amicus residents, who will receive 50% off their first beverage everyday and 20% off additional beverages and food purchased that day.
Amicus also said every weekday leading up to the opening, there will be a pop-up coffee stand outside the location giving students free coffee and pastries. The purpose of the initiative is to receive feedback on drinks and recipes.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
