Lehigh men’s lacrosse squeezes out big non-conference win over Stony Brook, 12-11

With a game against Lafayette College next Friday that could determine its chance to make the Patriot League Tournament, the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team continues to build its momentum.

After a last-second win over No. 14/18 Princeton University on April 7, Lehigh (6-8, 2-5 Patriot) won its second straight game against a ranked opponent, beating No. 18/14 Stony Brook University, 12-11.

Senior attackman Dan Taylor led the way for the Mountain Hawks, putting up seven points (two goals, five assists). Junior attackman Reid Weber added four goals and an assist of his own.

The Hawks went into halftime with a 7-3 lead after Taylor fed sophomore attackman Matt Raposo for his first of two goals in the game, which is a career high for him. This would be the biggest lead for either team in the game.

Stony Brook started the second half with five straight goals to take an 8-7 lead, but it would be the last lead it held all game. Once Lehigh got the lead back, the teams traded goals, but there was not enough time for Stony Brook to tie the game up at the end after they turned the ball over.

Lehigh will now go into its final game of the season against Lafayette on Friday, April 17 at 7 p.m.
