Lehigh announced Kristin Agatone as the university’s new chief investment officer, according to an email from Lehigh President John Simon to the campus community. Agatone, the managing director at Summit Rock Advisors in New York City, will begin working at Lehigh May 31.
She will work with Lehigh’s investment office to help oversee the endowment fund, which is valued at about $1.2 billion.
At Summit Rock, she is a senior member of of the firm’s investment team. She has experience with handling a university’s endowment, previously working for Harvard Management Company, which handles the endowment for Harvard University. She received her bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Harvard as well.
The selection of Agatone ends the committee’s national search, which was led by Trustee Sarat Sethi, ’92. Simon wrote in the email that Agatone provided Lehigh the best chance to grow the school’s endowment, among other things.
Agatone will succeed Trustee Jordan Hitch, ’88, who was serving as the interim chief investment officer since Peter Gilbert retired on Nov. 13, 2015.
