The Lehigh men’s soccer team fell to the Villanova University Wildcats 1-0 in a hard-fought overtime battle Tuesday night.
The game was the Mountain Hawks’ third loss of the season. The Hawks put up a great fight, holding off the Wildcats throughout both halves with neither team scoring a goal. Both halves were very active, totaling over 30 shots, with over 10 of them on goal.
Junior Jamie Luchini led Lehigh with six shots throughout the game, followed by first-year teammate Jack Miskel. In addition to the many shots during the game, both teams played aggressively, totaling over 20 fouls throughout the game. One foul inside of the penalty box granted Wildcat Max Kroshwitz a penalty kick, which he converted, thus ending the game in overtime.
The Lehigh men’s soccer team is now 4-3-0 for the season. The team will face their first Patriot League competitor of the season, American University, on Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. under the lights at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
