Lehigh softball struggled offensively and lost to Army West Point 3-1 to be eliminated from the Patriot League Tournament.
After going into the tournament as the No. 1 seed, Lehigh lost three of its last four games, including its last two in the tournament. The Mountain Hawks only scored four combined runs in its three tournament games.
Army took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second after an error by senior MacKenzie Velasquez. The Black Knights then scored again in the third inning to take a 2-0 lead.
Lehigh’s lone run was scored on a wild pitch as sophomore Nicole Yozzo reached home in the bottom of the fourth. Army scored its final run in the sixth on another error, one of Lehigh’s four errors on the day.
Lehigh will graduate five seniors as the team finished 36-16 overall and 13-4 in the conference.
