The 7th Congressional District Debate scheduled for Oct. 21 at WFMZ-TV studios has been cancelled. The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce said in an email sent out on Monday that Candidate Bob Brooks informed them he will no longer be participating in the debate.
According to The Morning Call, Brooks’ campaign denied avoidance of the debate and vowed to participate.
Isabelle Jabbour, manager of government and external affairs at the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, informed interested attendees of this cancellation in an email at 2:05 p.m.
“We understand this is a disappointing development, especially for those who were looking forward to hearing directly from both candidates,” Jabbour said.
The Brown and White was planning on attending and reporting on this debate and will continue its midterm election coverage. The Brown and White is planning to investigate the reason for Brooks’ cancellation.
