Senior forward/midfielder Jamie Luchini made his debut Sunday for Bethlehem Steel FC in a win against the Richmond Kickers at Goodman Stadium.

Luchini substituted in for Cole Missimo in the 65th minute, playing the rest of the game. It was his professional soccer debut, which was just the fourth game of the season for Bethlehem Steel. He finished with one of the Steel’s 10 shots.

“I know what I can bring to a team,” Luchini said in a press release from Bethlehem Steel FC. “I’m a guy that is going to contribute offensively and can work defensively as well, but it was good to get that many minutes in today’s game, that’s something I can get off my back now.”

The game comes just 11 days after he signed with the team. It was originally said he would officially join the team once he graduated in May, but he was able to play early.

Luchini said it was interesting to play pro soccer on his college’s campus.

“It’s weird because it’s the same routine in terms of leaving my off campus house here and just driving five minutes to the game field, so it makes the environment a lot easier to transition to in my opinion,” he said, according to the press release.

Luchini will have his next opportunity to play in Bethlehem Steel’s next game, which is April 24 against the Charleston Battery.
