The Lehigh women’s soccer team suffered another tough loss on Wednesday night, this time at the hands of conference opponent Navy, 1-0.
Lehigh (4-3-3) and Navy defenders were battling it out in a first half, with only nine total shots and only two on goal. Both of those shots on goal were from Lehigh, but ended up being saved by Navy goalie Dayton Wetherby. Lehigh senior goalie Ani Nahapetian was not tested in the first half, seeing only five shots come her direction and none on goal.
In the second half Navy rattled off 13 shots, while Lehigh was only able to get off one. Of Navy’s 13 shots, seven of them were on target, but Nahapetian rejected six of them.
In the 66th minute of the game, Navy’s Meghan Hegarty fired a shot that got by Nahapetian for the first and only goal of the game.
With six conference games remaining, it will look to capture its first win since Sept. 13. The Hawks will take on Army West Point on Oct. 3.
