UPDATE: One of two suspects apprehended in student robbery

UPDATE: A 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody after an investigation by the Lehigh University Police Department and the Bethlehem Police Department, according to an email from Lehigh Police Chief Edward Shupp.

Video surveillance was used to help identify the suspect, according to email. Police are still working to identify the second suspect.

A university graduate student was the victim of a strong-arm robbery which took place at 5:31 p.m. on Jan. 15, according to a safety bulletin sent to the community from Police Chief Edward Shupp.

The robbery took place on the corner of Morton and Vine streets. The student suffered minor injuries and was treated on the scene.

According to the email, the victim described the suspect as a male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and 160 pounds, wearing a dark hoodie.

The Lehigh University Police Department will lead an investigation into the incident and has asked anyone with information to contact LUPD at (610) 758-4200.
