The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team suffered a 13-6 loss to No. 6 Penn State University on Friday afternoon at the Ulrich Sports Complex. It was the team’s first game of the season.

Penn State had momentum from the very beginning of the first half, scoring the first five goals of the game. Junior attacker Allison LeBeau scored Lehigh’s first goal unassisted with seven and a half minutes left in the half, while junior midfielder Lauren Beausoleil scored later on. However, Penn State was able to score twice more before the half ended, leaving the score 7-3 at halftime.

The second half of the game started much like the first, with Penn State once more scoring the first five goals. Lehigh freshman attacker Courtney Henig, sophomore midfielder/defender Kierstyn Voiro and senior midfielder Kendall Garden were able to keep the Mountain Hawks in the game by each scoring a goal in the second half, but in the end, the Mountain Hawks could not make a comeback.

The women’s lacrosse team has a week off, and then it is back on the field at the Ulrich Sports Complex on Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. to face off against the Yale University Bulldogs.
