Junior attacker Allison LaBeau scored a career-high eight points to help lead Lehigh women’s lacrosse over Iona College 14-11 Saturday at Banko Field.
LaBeau, who had four goals and four assists, scored her first three goals in the first half. Her third goal came with 3:26 left in the first half to give the Mountain Hawks (3-1) a 10-6 lead. Lehigh extended its lead to six goals before halftime, leading 12-6.
Iona then went on a 5-0 run in an 11-minute span in the second half to cut the Lehigh lead to two. The Hawks followed up by killing more than 10 minutes off the clock on offense, passing it around and preventing Iona from gaining possession back. LaBeau completed her eight-point day with a goal with 25 seconds left to seal the victory.
Freshman attacker Courtney Henig and senior midfielder Kendall Garden each had a hat trick as well to help the Hawks score their season high in goals. Sophomore attack/midfielder Hayley Wentzel added two goals and an assist.
Lehigh will now play a pair of games during Spring Break, traveling first to play Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, on March 12, then Davidson College in North Carolina on March 15.
