The Lehigh men’s soccer team defeated Navy 2-1 in overtime Wednesday night. The 96th minute goal, scored by sophomore Oscar Greene brought the Mountain Hawks to their first Patriot League win on the year.

Going into the locker room, Navy was up 1-0 over Lehigh after a goal from Navy’s Thomas Moore. The Midshipmen came out of the locker room and came close to putting up a 2-0 lead over the Mountain Hawks, but freshman goalkeeper, Will Smith, saved the goals.

Lehigh’s first goal came at the 54-minute mark, which was scored by freshman Zarin Tuten from a header off a corner kick. Tuten, who scored his first career goal, was assisted by sophomore Matt Morana.

“I told the corner kicker I wanted it served to my head and he did,” Tuten said. “We’re going to move on from this game, get our 4 o’clocks in and get ready for Army on Saturday.”

After this game Lehigh moves up to 1-2-0 in the Patriot League and 4-6-1 overall.

“I’m happy that we won,” Greene said. “First win in the Patriot League, so we just have to keep it coming. It was a wet field, and we didn’t challenge their goalie enough, but we still won and that’s all that matters.”

Coach Dean Koski was glad to see the team get three points with the win, especially with it being a league game.

“It’s important to get those wins at home,” he said. “I don’t think either team was great on the day, but it was a hard fought battle for both teams and the overtime goal was huge for us.”

The Mountain Hawks will take on Army West Point Saturday at 7 pm at Ulrich Sports Complex.
