The baseball team suffered a tough loss to Navy in a doubleheader on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks fell to Navy 4-0 in the first game and were dominated 21-1 in the second.

In the first game, Navy hit three runs in the first inning and then another in the third to secure its 4-0 lead against Lehigh. Midshipmen Stephen Born hit a double to help put Navy on the scoreboard. The Mountain Hawks were not able to score any runs in the first game.

The second game did not prove any better for the Mountain Hawks. Navy’s batting was unstoppable. Junior second baseman Mike Garzillo hit a home run putting Lehigh on the board for the first time in the bottom of the fourth. But it didn’t help much — Navy was already up 15 runs at that point.

Lehigh did not score for the rest of the game while the Midshipmen secured runs in the fifth, seventh and eighth innings to bring their total to 21.

Garzillo led the Mountain Hawks with two hits Saturday. Garzillo also hit his fifth home run of the season. Senior J.R. Edwards pitched the first game and senior Nick Macaione pitched in the second game, both suffering losses.

The Midshipmen came out to play Saturday, and the Mountain Hawks were not able to put a stop to them. The loss left the Mountain Hawks 7-7 in the Patriot League, while Navy moved to first place with a 10-4 record.
