The Chi Psi fraternity has been placed on disciplinary probation after being charged with several conduct violations, according to a Lehigh Greeks blog post.
The probation period began April 7 and will continue through May 31, 2017.
The organization was found responsible for respect for community (general), respect for others (general) and respect for community L1 (failure to report/being in the presence of a violation).
The charges come after an incident on Nov. 7, 2015, wherein members of the fraternity committed acts against other Lehigh students. According to the blog, acts were committed due in part to affiliation with the fraternity.
On Nov. 8, Brian Githens, a member of Chi Psi, was charged with a felony count of burglary, simple assault and criminal mischief after a break in at an off-campus residence.
The organization’s sanctions include visits from a member of the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs in order to review conduct, the planning of an educational workshop regarding violence and alcohol, a Restorative Circle conversation with the Conduct Office and OFSA and meetings between Chi Psi’s executive board and the administration to plan bystander intervention training.
The probation comes as the latest update in Chi Psi’s disciplinary timeline after the fraternity was put on — and later removed from — temporary suspension in November. An investigation that month found the fraternity not guilty for two of three charges.
According to the Lehigh Greeks post, Chi Psi had been previously charged with respect for others A1 (physical violence) and respect for the law 1, but these were dropped.
