Letter to the editor: Sculpture garden visit

0

My wife and I visited the Sculpture garden yesterday. We took Mountain Drive North from campus and parked on the side of the road where the guard rail begins. From there we walked over to the garden. I have been working at Lehigh since 2012 and never heard about the garden. Thank you to Scott Papapietro for his recent article in The Brown and White. I have been to see Stonehenge, many castles in England, Mt. Rainier, the Spruce Goose, Queen Mary, Biltmore Mansion, the mansions at Newport Rhode Island, the high-speed train in France and, most unforgettable, the Tabasco Sauce factory outside New Orleans — you can’t breathe in there. Scott’s article forewarned me the garden wasn’t maintained — that is OK. What we saw (was) the students’ imaginations set in concrete. By looking closely you can tell that a lot of thought went into the students’ work. We are glad we went to see it in person.

Since TRACS doesn’t go to the sculpture garden, I did the next best thing and left a Tupperware container full of Smarties for the next explorers to make the trip.
